It's That Time Again . . . More MONSTER Barrels

Gentlemen, Warriors, and Vile Unwashed Masses of The Grendel Horde, I am pleased to announce new MONSTER barrels are arriving soon. The Monster 16 and Monster 20 are complete and are being shipped to me. The M12 and M18 are in production and are due in 6–8 weeks.

Guys, these barrels feature our best profiles yet, putting metal where it needs to be for accuracy and safety, and shaving it where we can best achieve weight savings — giving supremely useful hunting and tactical barrel profiles.

While we will continue to offer Faxon barrels, these MONSTER barrels will be made by our newest partner, Green Mountain, long respected for accuracy and value. As always, forum member pricing applies; our goal is for MONSTER to be the best VALUE going for 6.5 Grendel barrels:

    Monster 12 = $133 plus shipping
    Monster 16 = $139 plus shipping
    Monster 18 = $145 plus shipping
    Monster 20 = $149 plus shipping

    More info to come. . . .

Wow, thanks again BFT! Great prices for great barrels!

All the good stuff: nitride treated, 5R rifling, light profile. GM is known for accuracy and quality.

"Headspaced for Grendel Mk136 bolt." Is that a new "official" designation? I hope so, would make the differentiation easier. Is the other the x39 Mk125 bolt?

Mk136 and Mk125 are NOT "official." But, who's to say what's "official"? I say it's OFFICIAL.

B28: Not cryo treated that I know of.

I wonder where the label came from and who is using it. Makes it much simpler than having to explain what ".136 bolt face depth" means. And drops the "type 1" or "type 2" also.

If we all use that label (Grendel Mk136) here on the forums it may help get it adopted industry wide.

            BFT, once again you-da-man!

JFTHOI I googled "Grendel Mk136" and the first times the term popped up were both yours: once on AR-15.com and once here. Can you take credit for inventing it?

OK, ha! Now I remember about the cryo treatment. Subtle humor, B28 . . .

Yes, I invented the Mk136 and Mk125 nomenclature and, yes, I do hope it becomes standard industry-wide. Seems the only way that makes sense to me to sort out the current confusion in a clear and simple manner.

I have a green mountain barrel on my 12.5 inch 308 I purchased from KAK Industries. Good value. Am considering the 18 or 20 inch.

BFT, I may need one of the 20' barrels. Had a Green Mountain barrel on a Ruger break action which was sub MOA. Have one on a 10-22 that will shoot sub half inch all day long with Federal Gold metal cartridges at 50 yds. Squirrels don't stand a chance. Makes me really curious what we can expect from a GM Grendel barrel. Any weight figures on the 20"? Thanks, John

WoW that’s fantastic news ! GM plans on putting these barrels in a lot of hands across the states with prices like this and a well know reputation of making quality barrels. Thanks BFT

                            Sounds good BFT.

I will be in touch for a 20 inch.

Any idea on time frame for more bolts?
