A little over a year ago a ranch supply store that is part of a little over 50 stores, had their entire reloading department on sale 25% off. 2 weeks each 11/19, 12/19 & 1/20. I asked the mgr if they were getting out of reloading. He said "no we were instructed to move some inventory because our warehouses were stuffed w/reloading supplies. I bought primers @ $25/K and powder for $20-$25/LB

A lot of stuff is in short supply.
A friend of mine owns an archery shop, has 4 or 5 of the top brands. Bows that cost $700-$1700 are ALL out of stock 2-6 month wait.
Hot Tubs where my nephew works all 6+ month wait ($10K-$20K ea.)
New GM diesel trucks (3/4 & 1 ton) are 4-6 months after you put down a deposit.
New Polaris SxS 2-4 month wait after you put down a deposit
New Swarovski NL pure 12x binoculars $3100 4-6 month wait

These are all because the ammo manufacturers are driving up the prices.

Wait, I though the ammo/primer shortage was due to the new 2.5 million first time gun owners. Did they also buy a hot tub, truck, bow etc. as well? It seems I'm a bit behind on my purchases.

Not as hard as primers but for a while as hard as powder is today. Was and still is the chlorine based cleaners and treatments. Still may wait for several weeks for some of the chemicals.

Pool chems are some bad stuff. Helped build a materials elevator for their making once. 100% Inconel if I remember right. Was told any contact of the ingredients with iron would cause an explosion

Here are some little-guy manufacturers that are in stock, offering ammo thru various dealers.
                    Winchester
                    Igman
                    Sig Sauer
                    Defender
                    Triple R
                    Federal
                    Maxtech
                    Outdoor limited
                    Precision one
                    Fiocchi
                    Hornady

Not saying all of their prices are what I would want, but some seem mild relative to today's craziness.

Guess all of the little guys haven't been squeezed out by the latest "power play" ..............

Unfortunately - the COVID disruption to Supply Chains in many industries continues to cause reduced Production.

That said - many industries have made "adjustments" - with Increased Leadtime to Retail where everyone "used to" have choices at hand ready for purchase - and not "choice" is limited - many capital goods require commitment and backorder for delivery.

Yes - particularly in Ammo - manufactured Grendel is prior stock at a Premium price - general reloading supplies are exhausted and waiting new supply.

Sure - in recreational firearms "most" makers have either adjusted - and yes some have dropped out.

You can rant at the machine all you want - in most other industries those that have adjusted have had banner 2020 - and will have banner 2021.

In the ammo business - the pipeline has been emptied - and it will take a long-long-long time to refill.
