Sierra 105gr Blitzking data

I revisited this with some N540. Figured it would be a little slow but would work.

will edit/update post with velocity data but es was around 10 and speed was doing 2750ish with 30.9gr of powder (had best group)



2.285 coal, lapua brass, br4 primer.

30-31.2gr in .3gr steps. Bottom left is 30, next target to right is 30.3 and working up from there. 5 shot groups all at 100 yards.

best group 30.9 measured .374" center to center. Calling 30.9 good enough for what I want to do.

You are running a 22" bbl, correct? And, did you ever test the 8208xbr?

22" barrel, still havent gotten around to 8208 yet. on my to do list, maybe possibly might get to it this week.

Have 27.9-28.8 of xbr loaded up based on sierras 107gr load data. Reviewing the 107 sierra thread on this forum, I might be about a grain light from where I would like. Will find out tomorrow I suppose. Expecting 2600s on the top end if mid to high 29gr of xbr is where I want to be optimally.

28.8 has space with the 105s at 2.285" in my lapua case. Can hear it when shaking so im not expecting much.

Pulling chrono data and will update. Went exactly as expected. Haven't run group sizes yet either. I recall 2650ish on the tip end of this ladder and unimpressive SD. Not bad, not excellent though it seems to really not matter much so long as sd and es isn't excessive.

Rifle was 22" criterion with the tan upper. I have 2x criterion uppers, this is my backup match rifle. Still convinced if you don't go off the walls, this bullet is hard to mess up.

2 shots in the middle were me just validating "close enough" with staball match and the 105z.

have 29.1-29.7 loaded. i dont think i want to or will need to go higher. at 29.4 I have 8 rounds loaded rather than the normal 5 i would usually do. all signs point to this is where my rifle and this bullet play nicely together so I loaded 3 extra to see if things pan out as expected.

hoping to get out this afternoon and have the 3 groups shot and chrono'd but its windy and its a work day so its only like 50% chance ill get it done. heavy rain forecast for tomorrow so I would really like to try to get it done today if I can. working on a .223 load in parallel and my time is limited lately... been wasting... absolutely wasting my time with varget. i simply dont get the appeal at all. doesnt seem to do anything well.


edit - got this shot yesterday. groups were meh. everything under 1moa but i didnt like the vertical stringing on the 8 shot group, top charge is the only one of interest to me currently and i need to tune it out just a hair to remove the flier that pushed it from a .3moa to a .5 ctc.

I believe this should be enough 8208xbr load data for now. for me the next node occurs in ~100fps and im not getting there with this powder safely. 2730-2750 is where it seems to be happy and getting there in under 30gr of powder is always nice. weight is weight no matter the kernel size, if less is more then awesome... money in the bank.

video is 300M/328 yards. Bullets were holding sub moa to 500M with the 29.6gr of xbr load though it was producing fliers as seen in this video (threw a shot a hair low from aim point, still within 1moa)

Comparing match performance vs N540, N540 might be a touch better as it didnt produce random error.

Also, keep in mind this is bipod only. No rear bag, so holding about .5moa is all I can do without any rear support.

Zen, are you running a gasser or bolt gun? Just curious as that is about 2 grains over Sierra book max. Not judging, just curious, as obviously a bolt gun won't mind the extra pressure.

AR15, and it's only 1gr over the published 107 data while loading .025 longer. With my lot of 8208 and chamber ill run this forever and not worry about breaking anything. Check out the sierra 107 thread on this forum and you will see a lot more of 29+gr of 8208
